Even though I initially liked Windows 7's startup sound, after a few weeks of using it, it became annoying. Like many things in life, something you hear or do often becomes boring and then annoying. I'm pretty sure that, just like me, many of our readers will want to disable it as some point. Therefore, in this tutorial, I'll show how to do just that: how to disable Windows 7's startup sound. And, for when you want to have it back, I'll show also how to enable it back again.
Open Control Panel and, in the search box, type the word sound.

In the Sound list of search results, select 'Change system sounds'.

You can also go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound. Under Sound click on 'Change system sounds'.

In the Sounds tab from the Sound window, uncheck the box for 'Play Windows Startup Sound'. After a restart, the startup sound will be disabled. In the same manner, select the 'Play Windows Startup Sound' check-box to enable it back.

Disabling or enabling of the startup sound is a simple procedure, as you could see from this article. If you have any questions on this topic or about system sounds in general, don't hesitate to leave a comment.
