Security for Everyone - Reviewing G-Data Internet Security 2010

G-Data Internet Security 2010We are continuing with our Security for Everyone series, having G-Data Internet Security 2010 as our guest. G-Data's suite is not that popular and well known, but the company actually has a long history that spans over more than two decades. This is quite impressive if you think that this makes them not much younger than personal computers themselves. Read on to see if this experience eventually paid off.

Security for Everyone - Reviewing BitDefender Internet Security 2010

BitDefender Internet Security 2010Today, our guest is the latest incarnation of the BitDefender Internet Security suite. Its previous version was somewhat of a disappointment, failing to exploit the potential of its solid foundation. It gave the distinct impression of bloatware and was unbearably slow. Softwin did promise they will address these issues; let's see if they managed to in version 2010. In the meantime, if you want to test BitDefender Internet Security 2010 yourself, you can download the trial version from its homepage.

Security for Everyone - Reviewing AhnLab V3 Internet Security 8.0

AhnLab V3 Internet Security 8.0Going further with our Security for Everyone series we will look at AhnLab V3 Internet Security 8.0. If you have a confused look on your face that seems to wonder who are these AhnLab fellows anyway, then you may want to know that they are one of the biggest players of Internet security in the Asian market. And while the first thing I could think of when I saw their web page was 'vaporware', AhnLab V3 Internet Security 8.0 turned out to be the biggest and most pleasant surprise we have had in our series so far.

Security for Everyone - Reviewing Norton Internet Security 2010

Norton Internet Security 2010The third candidate in our Security for Everyone series is Norton Internet Security 2010. Symantec's technological stars are Quorum and SONAR2, two technologies that are hoped to push the efficiency of the new security suite to the limit. Quorum uses input from the many users of Symantec products to build a reputation rating for any file that may be encountered in order to better assert its maliciousness. SONAR2 analyzes the behavior of programs to detect any threads. In this review, we will see if these two technologies, along with Norton Internet Security's other features, are as good as they sound. If you would like to test them yourself, you can download a free trial here, and you can buy the full version here.

Security for Everyone - Reviewing AVG Internet Security 8.5

AVGThe second entry in our Security for Everyone series is AVG Internet Security 8.5. AVG has a strong focus on its home security features and does not offer all the fancy extras like backup facilities that some other suites offer. However, AVG Internet Security tries to offer some interesting approaches to home security, with features such as LinkScanner, which analyzes visited websites to detect potential threats, or ID Protection which monitors processes, keeping an eye on identity theft threats. In this review, I will talk about what AVG Internet Security 8.5 really offers, let you know from where to buy it and where to download a free trial version.

Security for Everyone - Reviewing BullGuard Internet Security 8.7

BullGuardOpening our Security for Everyone series is BullGuard Internet Security 8.7. BullGuard has been a player on the home security market since 2002, promoting a solution based on the BitDefender antivirus engine with a focus on ease of use and efficiency.

BullGuard Internet Security 8.7 offers an integrated, subscription-based service in which you get not only the security software, but also a 5 GB online backup space. While the backup option is certainly good to have and useful, we did not include it in our review since we are only testing security features: the anti-malware and the firewall module. In this review I will share with you how this security solution really is and give you directions for where to buy it and where to download the 60-day trial version.
