What makes you focus your attention solely on cityscapes?
I focus my attention mainly on cityscapes due to my interest in architecture and urban life. It's fascinating how new developments or buildings influence people and surroundings.

What are the biggest challenges that you face as an architectural photographer?
One of the main challenges when shooting buildings is being able to adapt to the existing light. Sometimes there is too much of artificial fluorescents while other times it is too dark. I do not like the use of flash, not even in interiors.

Even though you are self-taught, you surely must read books, magazines, websites. From where & how do you learn more about photography?
I try to learn and improve my skills by reading articles on different websites and by interacting with other photographers online.

Can you recommend some of them?
I can recommend a couple of good magazines with very useful articles: Amateur Photographer and Digital Photographer. It is also a good idea to follow the blogs of established photographers, my favorite being Steve McCurry.

Do you tend to take photos having a specific purpose in mind or do you let yourself go with the flow and improvise?
Normally I prefer to let the place inspire me, although in occasions I do have an idea of some compositions that I would like to get.

You have photographed quite a few cities all over the world. Which you enjoyed most, from a photographic perspective and why?
The cities I have enjoyed most are Tokyo and Hong Kong, due to my passion for skyscrapers and modern and futuristic looking urban spaces. But these days I also enjoy very much to photograph my hometown of Bilbao in Basque Country, with all its new architectural projects and the Guggenheim museum, which is one of my favorite buildings in the world.

Are there any special techniques you tend to use for most of your photos?
I don't think I use any special techniques. I do have a few of my own tricks and I also enjoy experimenting and trying new ways of shooting, specially at night.

What photographic gear and applications do you use?
At the moment I use a Sony Alpha 350 with a standard lens 18-55mm and a wide angle lens 11-18mm. As a second camera, I have the Fuji S200EXR which is great for harsh conditions and detailed shots. For the little editing needed on my photos, as I prefer to achieve the best result in camera, I use Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Are you a Mac or a PC?
I am a PC user (using Windows 7 Home Premium) but if I will manage to sell more photos, I might change to Mac. ;-)
