Yesterday, BitDefender organized a formal launch event for their 2013 lineup of security solutions, in Bucharest, Romania. We decided to accept their invitation and learn more about the novelties bundled with their newest products. They revealed some interesting new features and we decided to resume our Security for Everyone series and have BitDefender Internet Security 2013 as our first guest.
Some Details About the Event & BitDefender 2013
The event was small, intimate with only a handful of journalists, bloggers and partners participating. This meant there was plenty of time and room to get to know the BitDefender team (PR team, security experts, their CEO) and have frank discussions about their products and plans for the future.
Their ultimate security product - BitDefender Total Security 2013 - promises some interesting new features:
- BitDefender Safepay - a secure browser that establishes an encrypted VPN connection with BitDefender. It can be used to complete financial transactions, even on public networks, in a safe manner, without the danger of being intercepted by unwanted parties.
- BitDefender Anti-Theft - a concept borrowed from the world of smartphones and tablets, which can be used to locate and remote control your laptop, in case it gets stolen or lost.
- A remote management dashboard which allows you to control all the devices secured with BitDefender that are assigned to your account.
- Highly improved parental controls that provide lots of visibility on how your children use their computers and smartphones with Android.
These are just a few of the novelties they shared which, at least in theory, make up for a great security product. Also, their latest products already received the "Editor’s Choice" award from PC Mag. So... we definitely want to learn more. :)
Security for Everyone 2012-2013 - Starts with BitDefender
But you know us... we won’t believe a product is great and recommend it to our readers, until we test it ourselves.
In the next few days, we will take BitDefender Internet Security 2013 for a spin and see how well it fares. We aim to improve the way we test security products and be even tougher evaluators than before. We will share more details about our enhanced testing procedure very soon.
